Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made an official statement that Olivier Giroud will remain at Arsenal this season amidst speculations linking him with a move elsewhere.
Reports made earlier this week revealed that Arsenal are reportedly prepared to offer Olivier Giroud as a part deal for PSG striker Edinson Cavani. Arsene Wenger believes that the Frenchman has been doing well since he joined the club and has backed up the striker to improve more on his game. Therefore, he has revealed that he is willing to keep Giroud at Arsenal this season.
“He scored 16 [in the Premier League last year] and he’s very convincing," Wenger told Sky Sports.
“You never have to set any limitations for any player. For me, he’s improving every year and don’t rule it out that he scores 25.
“We have Sanogo who will be an important asset, we have Giroud, we have Lukas Podolski, we have Joel Campbell who can play centre forward. We have Alexis and Walcott coming back. Let’s not forget that.
“All of our opponents look for strikers as well and nobody finds a world-class striker available who is better than the strikers you have.”
Giroud who sustained an ankle injury during Arsenal's second Premier League game against Everton last Saturday is expected to be out for up to three months. With this I think Arsenal will have to seek the services of a new striker as the team is now getting thinner in size.
