Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed the latest team news ahead of Wednesday night's Champions League play-off second leg against Besiktas.
The Gunners played a 0-0 draw against Besiktas last Tuesday in their Champions League play-off round one in Instabul, Turkey. They are expected to play the second leg of the play-offs today at the Emirates Stadium in order to ascertain their Champions League status for the 2014/15 season.
Below is the team news and injury update given by Wenger ahead of Arsenal's tie with Besiktas.
on Olivier Giroud…
He will not play tomorrow and he will see a specialist tomorrow. After that we will make an announcement of how long he will be out for.
on it being a long-term injury…
It can be. We will see tomorrow.
on whether it's a broken foot…
I don't know, it's sad for us but at the moment we are focused on tomorrow's game.
on other team news…
Mikel Arteta is still out from his ankle injury. He is quite a short term injury, he could be back quite quickly. Everyone else is available.
on Kieran Gibbs…
Kieran Gibbs has his hamstring [issue] - I count him as after the break.
on Theo Walcott…
Theo is doing well but we will respect the timing [of his return]. The timing is end of the month to join in again, after the break I think he will be in full training.
The game is a must-win for Arsenal if they want to play in the Champions League this season. A win will also go a very long way to help in further transfer activities at Arsenal as most top players will prefer a move to a club where they can play in the Champions League. Do you see the Gunners qualifying for the UCL this season?
