Former Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner has hit at his former club as he believes they made him waste his last season at the London club.
Bendtner made two loan spells to Sunderland and Juventus before returning to Arsenal in the summer of 2013. The Denmark international who played only nine games for Arsenal last season failed to impress during his last season at the club before moving to Wolfsburg on a free transfer in the summer of 2014.
However, the 26-year old striker revealed that he was willing to leave Arsenal after returning from his loan spells, only for the club to deny him of a move elsewhere. He says he still finds it difficult to understand why Arsenal didn't allow him leave when he wanted to.
"It was a terrible situation. My last year at Arsenal was a waste of time," Bendtner told Tipsbladet.
"It was worthless that Arsenal did not allow me to leave.
"A club like Arsenal could easily have found someone else to play my role. They would have had no trouble finding a player who could do what they wanted me to do."
It's no doubt that Bendtner is the kind of person who gets himself into too many controversies every now and then. If he is not found messing around while he is drunk, then he would likely be found harassing a taxi driver.
I personally believe that Arsene Wenger had plans for Bendtner at Arsenal, but what I noticed during Bendtner's last season at the club was that his level of irresponsibility increased and I want to believe this made the club let him go at the end of the season.
Anyway, it's good that he has said his own part of the story. What is your say on this, do you think Arsenal held on to him in order to punish him?
